Mexico Vacation for Kids

Top three kid-friendly hotels in Mexico

Vacationing in Mexico can be a paradise for single adults, and a terror for parents taking along children. At least that's the way things used to be, but now more family-friendly hotels are beginning to appear in Mexico.

Balboa Towers in Mazatlan is a great hotel for kids and families. The hotel is situated on the Golden Zone of Mazatlan, with gorgeous beaches and beautiful views. Balboa Towers has 52 rooms with a kitchenette, living room and large balcony with every room. Other amenities include a swimming pool, high-speed Internet, and on-site boutiques and gift shops. El Naufragio features Mazatlan-style cuisine and yummy drinks on-site. Located just 10 minutes from the Historic Center, the hotel has activities for kids and adults. Prices start at just $73 a night.

In the Cancun area, try the Barcelo Costa Cancun. This gorgeous hotel sits on the beach, with views of the Caribbean and Playa Linda. Even the swimming pool has a luxurious feel, with a tropical garden surrounding the area. The Barcelo Costa Cancun has an all inclusive vacation deal that makes it an easy and less expensive way to enjoy Mexico with your children. The hotel also offers dozens of activities to guarantee that everyone in the family has an enjoyable stay: massages, restaurants, a doctor on-site, bars, a swimming pool and even a beauty parlor. The hotel also has a babysitter available, as well as laundry service, room service, beach access and a kids club. Located in the Hotel Zone, it's five minutes from downtown Cancun and close enough for a quick walk, but far enough away to avoid the crowds. On-site restaurants include Albatros with an all-you-can-eat buffet, the All Inclusive Club with 24-hour snacks and games for kids, and Gaviotas, a casual dining experience. Prices start at $136 a night.

If Puerto Vallarta is the center of your family vacation in Mexico, try the Barcelo Premium La Jolla de Mismaloya. This upscale hotel has 304 suites with private balconies or terraces, and excellent services for children. Each balcony has gorgeous views of the ocean and landscape, and the hotel has a full spa, four on-site restaurants, and four differently themed pools. The hotel also has an on-site doctor, tennis courts and available babysitters. Adults will love the fitness center, beauty parlor and Jacuzzi, as well as laundry and room service. Kids are going to love the kids club and snorkeling with lessons available. The hotel has a good location too, 13 minutes from the airport and 8 minutes from downtown. Prices begin at $139 a night.

Staying in Mexico can be an exciting treat for you and your children, as long as you pick the right hotel.
